MIPIM - Showcasing Nottingham on the world stage
16/2/2007

City delegates will be showcasing Nottingham and its huge investment potential at MIPIM, the world’s largest property show being held in Cannes. Made up of Nottingham City Council, Nottingham Regeneration Limited and six high-profile private sector sponsors, Team Nottingham will be rubbing shoulders with international investors and developers with a view to attracting them to the city.

Nottingham City Council’s Corporate Director of City Development Barry Horne said: “MIPIM provides a unique opportunity for Nottingham to showcase its property and investment offer on the world stage and to open up potential for significant investment.

“We have a lot to shout about and want potential developers and investors to get a clear picture of Nottingham as a city where bold visions are being turned into reality. We want people at MIPIM to be in no doubt that Nottingham is a city to invest in, home to major development projects creating new opportunities, and to major business successes such as Experian and ClinPhone, as well as being a city of huge ambition and innovation.”

Marc Cole, chief executive of NRL, which is one of seven sponsors taking the city to MIPIM, said: “Team Nottingham is planning a big presence at MIPIM. With Nottingham’s huge regeneration plans, we know there is massive potential.

“It is important that we continue to raise our profile and we intend to do this at MIPIM. We want to bring regional, national and international developers and investors to Nottingham to let them experience the opportunities first-hand.”

Team Nottingham will point to the tram – with its recent Government go-ahead for expansion - and the emerging Old Market Square, as symbols for a city growing in confidence and which encourage greater confidence in the city from potential investors. The city’s impressive programme of redevelopment and regeneration, including plans for the Southside, Eastside and Waterside areas, along with the growing science and technology sector and emphasis on the green agenda, will be presented as potential opportunities.

Mark Longley, Project Director for Eastside City said: "MIPIM is a great opportunity for Nottingham to show the world property market what it has to offer alongside other major UK, European and World cities. Nottingham is a place with a real buzz about it at the moment with several exciting regeneration projects underway and EastsideCity is delighted to be part of Team Nottingham."

Local sponsors include International management and construction consultancy Gleeds, urban regeneration, planning, environmental and engineering consultancy Scott Wilson, property consultants Innes England, developers Eastside City Developments and Miller Birch and law firm Freeth Cartwright, along with NRL, the organisation responsible for driving forward Nottingham’s three regeneration areas.
