Work has begun on the £23 million 14 storey residential development known as the Litmus Building on Huntingdon Street in Nottingham's Eastside Regeneration Area. One of three such areas being promoted by the city's urban regeneration company, Nottingham Regeneration Limited (NRL), Eastside is set become the new city living quarter of choice.
NRL originally commissioned Derek Latham & Partners to produce the master plan for Eastside in 2001. The Company has been working closely with the developers of the Litmus Building, Lace Market Properties, to ensure that this project in the Upper Eastside is both in line with principles of the plan and delivers a high quality design, setting new standards for the area.
Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony with Lace Market Properties and contractor Laing O'Rourke Ken Grundy, Deputy Chairman of NRL said "The developments being undertaken by Lace Market Properties on Huntingdon Street and in the Litmus Building in particular mark a major step forward in the delivery of the master plan for the Eastside. The company is making a massive contribution to the regeneration of Nottingham which is helping to change the face of the city. Mark Elliott, Mark Cavell and their team are to be congratulated on their investment in the future of Nottingham"
The preparatory work that Nottingham Regeneration Limited has undertaken to provide the necessary frameworks for development in the city's three regeneration Areas at Eastside, Waterside and Southside is now beginning to bear fruit. Towers cranes, the well established bench mark of developer confidence and a buoyant city economy, continue to sprout and the level of planning applications to the local authority would suggest that the skyline is unlikely to be bare in the next few years.
