- Office Study
NRL is working to establish a new office cluster adjacent to the enhanced Train Station Hub in Southside. Part of this work has been the development of the Nottingham Office Forum, which consists of key public and private sector organisations and acts as a lobby and marketing group. The forum recognised an acute shortage of reliable baseline information relating to the office stock in Nottingham City Centre and, in response, NRL jointly commissioned Lorne Estates and Experian to prepare the inaugural Office Market Review.
This major piece of research assessed the nature of the stock from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives, presented current trends in demand and supply, and provided a comparative bench marking exercise for Nottingham set against other Core Cities. It is intended this study will be reviewed annually, and is currently being used to assist the marketing of development opportunities and shape future provision.
A key outcome of the research was the identification of a significant amount of secondary office space in need of refurbishment to meet future market needs, and anticipated legislation in respect of operational performance. Taking this forward, by the end of 2011 NRL will have produced a briefing note in association with key partners which will identify techniques to introduce renewable technologies and sustainable refurbishment methods to support the renewal of this sector of the market.
